My name is Adam Schell. I am a husband, a father, a blogger, and the pastor of Melbourne Heights Baptist Church in Louisville, KY.
And let me get this out of the way from the beginning: I don't consider myself to be an expert at being a pastor. So if you're looking for someone who can give you a bunch of step-by-step instructions to become the greatest minister in history, you might want to look someplace else.
But what I am is someone who has over twelve years of experience pastoring. And the churches that I've pastored probably look a lot like yours. I have pastored two small churches (with an average attendance under 100) over the last twelve years -- one in a rural town and the other in a major city.
So I know what it's like to pastor an average church. I know what it's like to preach almost every single Sunday out of the year. I know what it's like to lead multiple Bible studies for the exact same people twice a week. I know what it's like to perform more funerals than weddings each year. I know what it's like to worry about having the financial resources to keep your doors open, and enough volunteers to keep everything running when the doors do open.
And that's the perspective that this blog comes from. It comes from someone who lives in the weeds of ministry every single day, and from someone who is constantly learning how to be a better person, a better pastor, and a better follower of Jesus.
And if you'd like to know a little more about me beyond this blog, here are some bullet points to tell you a little more about me.
Anything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Toy Story franchise, Rocky, The Bourne Trilogy, The Lion King
Favorite TV Shows:
This Is Us, The Simpsons, and way too much of what's on HGTV

I began my tenure as the pastor of Melbourne Heights Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky in November of 2011. Prior to coming to MHBC, I served as the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Carlisle from July of 2007 to November of 2011. I've also served as minister to youth at Dry Run Baptist Church (Georgetown, KY) for 2 1/2 years, and worked 3 years as a manager at KB Toys.
I have been married to my wife, Ashley, for almost as long as I've been in ministry. We are the proud parents of a little girl, named Hannah, who is growing up way too fast. And we're the puppy parents of a chihuahua-mix named Ruby and golden doodle name Minnie.
I am a 2010 graduate of the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky, where I received my Masters of Divinity Degree. I am also a 2004 graduate of Georgetown College, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Religion.
